Water Pressure Calculator: is your pressure actually low?

"Weak shower" is subjective — what feels weak to one person is normal to another. Enter a few details below and this tool will give you an actual estimated bar/PSI reading at your tap, and tell you plainly whether it's genuinely low, normal or high.

Your Setup

Typical municipal or booster pump supply in Dubai is 2.5–4 bar. Check your building's pump spec if known.
Ground floor / same level = 0.
Older, scaled pipes add extra friction loss.

How It Works

How water pressure is lost between the source and your tap

Water leaves your building's supply or booster pump at a set pressure, but by the time it reaches your tap or showerhead, some of that pressure has already been used up just getting there. This tool estimates two of the biggest losses along the way, then shows you what's realistically left.

01

Static height loss

Pushing water upward costs pressure — roughly 0.1 bar for every meter of height. Each floor above the source typically costs about 0.3 bar (assuming ~3m per floor).

02

Pipe friction loss

Older or scaled pipes have a narrower effective bore, so water has to fight more friction to get through, shaving off further pressure before it reaches the fixture.

03

What's left at the tap

Source pressure minus height loss minus friction loss gives a realistic estimate of what actually comes out of your tap or shower head.

This is a planning estimate to help you understand and describe the issue. A technician can measure your actual pressure directly with a gauge in a few minutes, accounting for valve condition, shared tank levels and plumbing layout that a calculator can't see.

Common Questions

Water pressure FAQ

Most Dubai apartments and villas run comfortably between 1 and 4.5 bar (14-65 psi) at the tap. Below 1 bar feels noticeably weak, above 4.5 bar can strain fittings and cause banging pipes.

Water pressure drops by roughly 0.1 bar for every meter of height it has to be pushed up, so upper floors in a tower naturally see lower pressure unless a booster pump compensates.

Yes, mineral scale and corrosion narrow the internal pipe diameter over time, adding friction that reduces the pressure and flow rate that reaches your tap, even if the source pressure is fine.

Options include a booster pump, clearing scale from aerators and showerheads, checking the building's shared pressure tank, or asking AHM to inspect for a hidden blockage or leak reducing supply.

Yes, sustained pressure over about 5-6 bar can stress washing machine hoses, water heater tanks and pipe joints, leading to premature leaks. A pressure-reducing valve can bring it back to a safe range.

It gives a solid working estimate to help you describe the issue, but actual pressure depends on plumbing layout, valve condition and shared building supply. A technician can measure it directly with a gauge in a few minutes.
